Passive Voice - Reporting Verbs (Passive with Reporting Verbs)
अंग्रेजी भाषा के C1 स्तर (Advanced level) में, Reporting Verbs का passive voice में प्रयोग बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। Reporting verbs वे क्रियाएं होती हैं जिनका उपयोग हम दूसरों की कही गई बातों, विचारों या मान्यताओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं (जैसे: say, think, believe, claim, understand, report, know आदि)।
इनका passive voice में प्रयोग मुख्य रूप से formal writing, academic papers, journalism In formal writing, reporting verbs are often used in the passive voice. और official reports में किया जाता है। यह भाषा को अधिक objective, impersonal और professional बनाता है, क्योंकि इसमें ध्यान इस बात पर नहीं होता कि कौन सोच रहा है या कह रहा है, बल्कि इस बात पर होता है कि क्या कहा या माना जा रहा है।
Passive में Reporting Verbs की मुख्य संरचनाएं
Reporting verbs को passive voice में बदलने के दो मुख्य तरीके हैं। आइए इन्हें विस्तार से समझें:
1. It + passive reporting verb + that-clause
यह संरचना अपेक्षाकृत सरल है। इसमें वाक्य की शुरुआत It से होती है, जिसके बाद passive verb और फिर that clause आता है।
- Active: People say that the global economy is recovering. (लोग कहते हैं कि वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था उबर रही है।)
- Passive: It is said that the global economy is recovering. (ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था उबर रही है।)
- Active: Experts believed that the artifact was lost forever.
- Passive: It was believed that the artifact was lost forever.
2. Subject + passive reporting verb + to-infinitive
यह संरचना अधिक advanced है और C1/IELTS परीक्षाओं में अक्सर पूछी जाती है। इसमें that-clause के subject को पूरे वाक्य का मुख्य subject बना दिया जाता है। इस संरचना में काल (tense) के अनुसार infinitive (to + verb) का रूप बदलता है:
- Simple Infinitive (to + V1):
इसका उपयोग तब किया जाता है जब reporting verb और reported action दोनों एक ही समय (Present या Future) के हों।
Active: They expect that the company will make a profit. The company is expected to make a profit.
Passive: The company is expected to make a profit. - Perfect Infinitive (to have + V3):
इसका उपयोग तब होता है जब reported action, reporting verb के समय से पहले (Past में) हो चुका हो।
Active: Police think that the thief left the country. The thief is thought to have left the country.
Passive: The thief is thought to have left the country. - Continuous Infinitive (to be + V1-ing):
जब reported action एक निरंतर चलने वाली प्रक्रिया (Continuous state) हो।
Active: Journalists report that the Prime Minister is considering a resignation.
Passive: The Prime Minister is reported to be considering a resignation. - Perfect Continuous Infinitive (to have been + V1-ing):
जब action past में शुरू हुआ हो और reporting के समय तक चल रहा हो।
Active: People claim that he has been hiding in the mountains.
Passive: He is claimed to have been hiding in the mountains.
ध्यान रखने योग्य महत्वपूर्ण बातें
कुछ verbs जैसे suggest और recommend का प्रयोग दूसरी संरचना (to-infinitive) के साथ नहीं Suggest and recommend are never followed by the to-infinitive. किया जा सकता है। उनके साथ केवल It वाली संरचना (Structure 1) का ही उपयोग होता है।
- सही: It is suggested that we delay the meeting.
- गलत: We are suggested to delay the meeting. (
We are suggested...)
इन advanced structures का नियमित अभ्यास आपको academic और professional English में महारत हासिल करने में बहुत मदद करेगा।
